Hack a Solar Garden Light into a Ceiling Fan Pull Chain Nightlight [Video]

Hack a Solar Garden Light into a Ceiling Fan Pull Chain Nightlight Instructables user yardleydobon was tired of waving his hand around in the dark trying to find the pull chain of his ceiling fan to light up the room. He took apart a solar garden light and used the parts to create a night light for the ceiling fan pull chain that comes on automatically when the light is off and charges from the light given from the ceiling fan lamps.

The key to making this work is having a chain pull with a translucent end; here's the one the author used. Add the LED light to the translucent chain pull, twist the wire up the pull chain and into the circuit from the solar lamp and the solar panel.

The idea is great, but I think rather than having an ugly solar panel on the side of your ceiling fan it would work better using small batteries and building everything into a larger-sized chain pull.
