Unique furniture from crate

Crates are the container storage of goods. In the past, people even use the crates to pack when going to move home or traveling. Crate material manifold. Some are made of wood, leather, or wicker. The design is also very interesting. Crates can be decorated with carvings, paintings, and so forth. While the chest skin usually have detailed ornamentation in the form of spikes.

Most boxes simply use to store objects that have been unused and just sitting in warehouses. In fact, with antique and artistic appearance, crates can be utilized for home decorating. The design can be combined with traditional interior style, ethnic, or modern.

Let?s be creative with the crate!

? As the table
if you own crate is large enough, use as a coffee table (coffee table) in the living room or family room. Sweeten with ethnic patterned cloth that matched the design of the crate. The texture of wood or leather worn it gives the impression of natural and add value to his art.

? To credenza
Crate can also be utilized as a credenza or console table. Place in the foyer to welcome guests, may also be placed at the other as a point of interest. Place your collection on display at the top or the vase of fresh flowers is beautiful. You also can combine with a wall decoration such as paintings, ethnic fabrics, or a mirror.

? Storage knacks
Take advantage of a medium sized crate or small trinkets to store your collection. You can store books, jewelry, cosmetics or toys in it. It could also put it as display artifacts.

Cybersquatters accepting bids for Paul Ryan domain names

Even before Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan was announced as Mitt Romney?s running mate, entrepreneurial cybersquatters swooped in to buy up relevant Web domain names.

Seeking a quick buck, the proud owners of paulryan.com, romneyandryan.com and romney-ryan.com are now soliciting sales pitches.

Paulryan.com has been registered the longest, to an Irish businessman named Paul Ryan. His site was established in 2001, according to a Whois search.

The Irish Paul Ryan declined to say if the Obama or Romney campaigns had contacted him about buying paulryan.com, but he told TheDC, ?I am having the domain name valued, I have had a lot of interest in it.?

A site that has already been valued is romney-ryan.com, which can belong to you ? or to a campaign or super PAC ? for $49,888.

Romney-ryan.com is registered to a Californian named George Popescu, who created the site in January according to Whois. His uncanny foresight may lead to a big-time payday.

But perhaps the most active salesman is Charlotte, N.C., resident Vincent Sullivan, who according to Whois snatched up romneyandryan.com three days before last Saturday?s big announcement.

Sullivan decorated his new site with a wallpapered photo of Romney and Ryan, and has a snazzy submission box allowing for interested parties to contact him.

Sullivan did not respond to questions submitted via the submission box or via the email address listed on his site?s Whois profile.

A search of opensecrets.org donor records did not provide a hint of the men?s political leanings ? suggesting that they are more likely cybersquatting hobbyists than political partisans.

Cybersquatting is not limited to the 2012 Republican ticket, as many domains naming either President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden or both also are not owned by their namesakes.

Lebanese Shi'ites kidnap 20, Sunni neighbors targeted

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Lebanese Shi'ite gunmen kidnapped more than 20 people on Wednesday in retaliation for the capture of one of their kinsmen in Syria, prompting Sunni Gulf states to warn their citizens to leave Lebanon immediately.

A Turk, a Saudi and several Syrians were among those abducted in an area of Lebanon controlled by Hezbollah Shi'ite militants, raising the risk that the sectarian violence driving the conflict in Syria will spread to its neighbor, which fought its own civil war on sectarian lines for 15 years.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar told their citizens to leave Lebanon after the kidnappings and threats to seize more citizens of countries that have backed the uprising against Syria's President Bashar al-Assad.

Members of the Meqdad clan, one of Lebanon's powerful Shi'ite families, said the kidnapping was retaliation for the capture of kinsman Hassan al-Meqdad by the rebel Free Syrian Army in Damascus two days ago.

They said their hostages included a Turkish businessman, a Saudi and several Syrians they described as rebel fighters.

In remarks to Lebanon's National News Agency, Hassan al-Meqdad's brother Hatem said "the snowball would grow", and warned "Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey and their citizens".

Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey are all led by Sunnis and strongly support the mainly Sunni Muslim rebels fighting Assad.

Air France, meanwhile, had to divert one of its flights to Lebanon after it was unable to land in Beirut for "security reasons". The road from the airport into central Beirut has regularly been blocked by families of Lebanese hostages held in Syria.

An Air France spokeswoman, correcting earlier reports that the plane had gone to Amman, said it had been diverted to Damascus where it had refueled before flying on to Larnaca in Cyprus.

The Syrian conflict has polarized Lebanon, with its Sunnis mainly supporting Syria's rebels, while Shi'ites, including the powerful militant group Hezbollah, mainly backing Assad, a member of the Alawite minority sect, an offshoot of Shi'ism.

The appearance of masked gunmen on the streets conducting mass abductions brings back memories of Lebanon's 1975-1990 civil war, when the country was divided by Sunni, Shi'ite, Christian and Druze militia. Kidnapping became common during the conflict, and some of those taken were never found.

Saudi Arabia's official news agency said Riyadh's embassy in Lebanon had "called on Saudi citizens currently in Lebanon to leave immediately given the latest developments in Lebanon and the appearance of some explicit threats to abduct Saudi citizens and others".

A diplomat said the Turkish businessman had been kidnapped shortly after arriving in Lebanon on Wednesday.

"He was here for business, arrived today, and was kidnapped near the airport," the source said, adding that there was little progress so far in negotiations to secure his release.

The Lebanese news channel Al Jadeed was given access to the Turkish hostage, who said he had been treated well.

In a video broadcast by Al Mayadeen, a Lebanon-based TV station, two of the Syrian hostages were shown in the custody of masked gunmen from the Meqdad clan wearing green fatigues and armed with automatic rifles.

Clan member Maher al-Meqdad said the detained Syrians included a lieutenant who had deserted from Assad's army to join the rebels, while those who were not FSA members had been freed.

One of the detainees, looking tense in a room full of gunmen, identified himself as a captain by the name of Mohammed, and said his role was to help supply the FSA. The other man said he was his assistant.

THREATS

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called the kidnappings "unacceptable".

"This is not an appropriate way to solve the kidnapping of a Lebanese citizen in Syria and brings us back to the days of the painful war, a page that Lebanese citizens have been trying to turn," he said in a statement.

The rebels in Damascus had accused their captive, Hassan al-Meqdad, of being sent to Syria by Hezbollah to aid Assad. Hezbollah has been one of Assad's regional allies for decades.

Maher al-Meqdad said his kinsman had travelled to Syria more than a year and a half ago, before the outbreak of the uprising, and had no links to the fighting in Syria.

"We don't care what is happening in Syria. We respect the will for democracy. We just want our son to come back to Lebanon safely," Maher al-Meqdad said.

The abductions on Wednesday happened in an area controlled by Hezbollah, a fact certain to lead to questions over whether the Shi'ite militant group authorized the clan's operation.

Lebanon's Sunni mufti, Malek Shaar, called for an urgent meeting on Wednesday night to try to prevent a security breakdown, Al Mayadeen said.

A group of masked gunmen speaking to journalists in the Hezbollah-controlled Dahiya neighborhood, who called themselves the "military wing" of the Meqdad clan, threatened more action if their relative was not released.

"We still haven't even done 1 percent, we still haven't really moved," said a man in a black mask holding a machinegun.

"Anyone from the FSA in Lebanon who tries to violate our rights over the Hassan Meqdad issue will be held to account by us, as well as any political group or sect that has joined it."

(AP) ? Sidney Crosby is among the players attending the NHL's latest round of collective bargaining talks.

Alex Ovechkin, Steven Stamkos and Jason Spezza also are participating in the meeting Tuesday in Toronto. The NHL Players' Association is expected to present its first proposal to the league at the meeting.

Union leader Donald Fehr has said the proposal will be an "alternative view" rather than a counter offer to the initial plan put forward by the NHL last month.

That proposal called for lowering the players' share in revenue and introducing new contract restrictions, including a five-year cap on deals.

The current CBA expires Sept. 15. The NHL has said there will be a lockout if a new agreement isn't in place by then.

Buying a Home with Friends or Family | Maryland Mortgage Lending

If you?re ready to buy a home but don?t have a significant other or spouse to buy with, you?ve got another option: buying a home with friends or family. Single individuals often have trouble qualifying for a mortgage on one income, or coming up with the money for a downpayment. When you come together with friends and family, though, you can make the dream of home ownership happen. Sometimes single parents come together to buy a home, or college roommates may share in the home buying process. Whatever your circumstances, if you?re thinking of buying with friends or family, here?s what you need to know:

Shared Ownership Now can Turn Into Sole Ownership Later

If you?re worried about the possibility of buying a home with friends or family members now because you don?t want to share a home forever, don?t worry. You and your co-owner will both experience life-changing situations again and again over the course of your life. Maybe one of you will get married and decide to move out. Or maybe one of you will get a promotion at work and decide to buy the other person out for sole ownership.

A shared ownership situation now can always turn into sole ownership later. If you work out a shared ownership contract that gives both you and your co-owner the ability to buy out of the home, you?ll have the piece of mind of knowing the situation isn?t forever, and you?ll be making money in the meantime.

Be Creative in Your Home Ownership Contract

If you?re thinking of buying a home with someone, be creative in your co-ownership contract. If you?re a woman who has the money for a home but not the know-how to do renovations and remodeling, partner with someone who can do that for you! You can assign a value to the renovation and remodeling work so that the other person can ?repay? you for the home and their share, and you get free work to improve the home. Non-traditional co-ownership situations can be extremely beneficial for one or both parties ? just be creative and think outside the box to create the best situation for you.

Meta-analyses of Glucose and Insulin-related traits Consortium (MAGIC) reveal new genetic regions influencing blood glucose traits

Researchers have identified 38 new genetic regions that are associated with glucose and insulin levels in the blood. This brings the total number of genetic regions associated with glucose and insulin levels to 53, over half of which are associated with type 2 diabetes.

The researchers used a technology that is 100 times more powerful than previous techniques used to follow-up on genome-wide association results. This technology, Metabochip, was designed as a cost-effective way to find and map genomic regions for a range of cardiovascular and metabolic characteristics on a large scale. Previous approaches were not cost effective and tested only 30-40 DNA sequence variations, but this chip allowed researchers to look at up to 200,000DNA sequence variations for many different traits at one time. The team hoped to find new variants influencing blood glucose and insulin traits and to identify pathways involved in the regulation of insulin and glucose levels.

"We wanted to use this improved Metabochip technology to see whether we could find additional genomic associations that may have been previously missed," says Dr Claudia Langenberg, co-lead author from the Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unit, Cambridge. "Our earlier work identified 23 genetic regions associated with blood glucose levels, highlighting important biological pathways involved in the regulation of glucose. At that stage, and before the design of the Metabochip, we were still limited by our capacity to quickly follow-up and afford parallel genotyping of promising, but unconfirmed genetic regions associated with glucose levels in many different studies across the world."

The team combined data from new samples typed on the Metabochip with data from a previous study to discover genetic regions associated with blood glucose and insulin levels. They identified 38 previously unknown regions for three different quantitative traits associated with blood glucose levels; fasting glucose concentrations, fasting insulin concentrations and post-challenge glucose concentrations.

"Our research is beginning to allow us to look at the overlap between genomic regions that influence insulin levels and other metabolic traits," says Dr Inga Prokopenko, co-lead author from the University of Oxford. "We observed some overlap between the regions we identified and genetic regions associated with abdominal obesity and various lipid levels, which are a hallmark of insulin resistance. We hope that these studies will help to find gene networks with potential key modifiers for important metabolic processes and related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes."

The team also found many more, less significant, genetic regions that may be associated with blood glucose and insulin levels but currently don't have the available data to definitively establish them as genome-wide significant. This supports previous evidence that there is a long tail of many other genetic regions that add up to quite small genetic effects but may increase the risk of such diseases as diabetes.Collectively, these less significant associations may represent important blood glucose and insulin level associations.

"In addition to these top signals there is statistical evidence that many other regions that appear to be biologically plausible also influence these traits, but what's limiting is that we don't have large enough sample sizes to have the power to validate them," explains Dr In?s Barroso, co-lead author from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. "Nevertheless, studying these functionally would be extremely beneficial if we want to fully understand the biology of blood glucose levels and the origin of diabetes."

"What we've found in this study is a number of genomic regions that influence blood glucose and insulin traits. Further analysis such as genetic mapping or 'fine-mapping' and functional analysis will expand and improve our understanding of the control of glucose and insulin levels in healthy persons and what goes wrong in type 2 diabetes patients."

Chad Johnson: Released By Dolphins After Arrest!

Good news for Chad Johnson: He's out of jail on $2,500 bond.

Bad news: He's also out of a job.

About 24 hours after Chad Johnson's arrest for domestic violence, the Miami Dolphins released the loquacious, mercurial six-time Pro Bowl receiver.

Johnson was released from jail Sunday after his wife, Evelyn Lozada, accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their home.

Chad Johnson, Jail

Chad, who married Basketball Wives star Evelyn in Miami on July 4, was officially charged with simple domestic battery, a misdemeanor offense.

Only five days earlier, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said Johnson's roster spot could be in jeopardy if he didn't temper his freewheeling behavior.

This incident apparently was the final straw.

Johnson, who recently changed his name back from Chad Ochocinco after four years with that absurd surname, was arrested on Saturday.

Allegedly, Evelyn Lozada confronted him about a receipt she found in their car trunk for a box of condoms, police said, sparking an argument.

With the two seated in the car, they began talking about the receipt and their marriage, and Chad allegedly got angry and head-butted his wife.

Lozada ran to a neighbor's house and called police.

A responding officer said Lozada had a 3-inch cut on her forehead, according to reports, while Johnson did not have any visible marks or bruises.

When questioned by police, the NFL star confirmed there had in fact been an argument over the receipt, but said his wife had head-butted him.

Johnson has long been known for his unusual antics that annoyed his teammates as well as coaches, yet made him popular with many fans.

If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. He could also receive community service, probation or anger management classes.

Two earthquakes in Iran kill 250 and injure 2,000

DUBAI (Reuters) - Overcrowded hospitals in north-west Iran struggled to cope with thousands of earthquake victims on Sunday and rescuers raced to reach remote villages after two powerful quakes killed at least 250 people.

Thousands of people huddled in makeshift camps or slept in streets after Saturday's quakes in fear of more aftershocks, 40 of which had already struck. A lack of tents and other supplies left them exposed to the night chill, one witness told Reuters.

Casualty figures are expected to rise, officials said, as some of the injured were in critical condition while hundreds were trapped under rubble, inaccessible to rescue workers hampered by darkness in the first hours after the quakes.

"I saw some people whose entire home was destroyed, and all their livestock killed," Tahir Sadati, a local photographer, said by telephone. "People need help, they need warm clothes, more tents, blankets and bread."

The worst damage and most casualties appeared to have been in rural villages surrounding the towns of Ahar, Varzaghan and Harees, near the major city of Tabriz, Iranian media reported.

Many villages are hard to reach by road, hindering rescue efforts. Hospitals in Tabriz, Ardabil and other cities nearby took in many of the injured, residents and Iranian media said, and there were long queues of survivors waiting to be treated.

Aidin, a Tabriz resident, said he went to give blood at a local hospital on Saturday and saw staff struggling to cope with the influx of patients. Most patients had been taken there by their families, he said, indicating a shortage of ambulances.

Ahar's 120-bed hospital was full, said Arash, a college student and resident of the town. There were traffic jams on the narrow road between Ahar and Tabriz as victims tried to reach hospitals, he said by telephone.

VILLAGES DESTROYED

"People are scared and won't go back into their houses because they fear the buildings aren't safe."

The U.S. Geological Survey measured Saturday's first quake at 6.4 magnitude and said it struck 60 km (37 miles) north-east of the city of Tabriz, a trading hub far from Iran's oil-producing areas and known nuclear facilities.

The second, measuring 6.3, struck 11 minutes later near Varzaghan, 49 km (30 miles) northeast of Tabriz.

Twelve villages were destroyed and about 60 had more than 50 percent damage in the quakes, Iranian media reported. About 110 villages were damaged, Deputy Interior Minister Hassan Ghadami told Fars news agency.

Ghadami said 250 people had been killed and Red Crescent spokesman Hossein Derakhshan told Fars more than 2,000 people were believed to have been injured.

"We saw some villages that were truly destroyed," said Sadati, who visited the affected area to document the aftermath. "One good thing was that the earthquake happened during the day, so many people were not in their homes. If it had happened at night the casualties would have been far worse."

Seventy-one ambulances and 40 units trained to find survivors had been deployed to the affected areas along with more than 5,000 tents, Derakhshan said.

About 16,000 people in the quake-hit area have been given emergency shelter, Red Crescent official Mahmoud Mozafar told Mehr news agency.

Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Hassan-Nejad warned that if relief efforts did not speed up, the death toll would swiftly rise.

"Relief groups have still not reached many villages, because in normal conditions some of these villages are several hours away," he told the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA). "Currently the roads are closed and the only way to reach these villages is by air."

COLLAPSED BUILDINGS

Another lawmaker, Abbas Falahi, told Fars rescue workers had not yet been able to reach between 10 and 20 villages.

Photographs posted on Iranian news websites showed numerous bodies, including children, lying on the floor of a white-tiled morgue in Ahar and medical staff treating the injured in the open air as dusk fell. Other images showed rescue workers digging people out of rubble - some alive, many dead.

Iran is situated on major fault lines and has suffered several devastating earthquakes in recent years, including a 6.6 magnitude quake in 2003 that reduced the historic south-eastern city of Bam to dust and killed about 31,000 people.

Saturday's quakes struck in East Azerbaijan province, a mountainous region that neighbors Azerbaijan and Armenia to the north. Buildings in Tabriz, the provincial capital, are substantially built and ISNA reported nobody in the city had been killed or hurt.

Homes and business premises in Iranian villages, however, are often made of concrete blocks or mud brick that can crumble and collapse in a strong quake.

Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar has arrived in the area and was holding meetings with local officials to coordinate the emergency response, ISNA reported. Thirty groups of experts have been sent to villages to estimate damage and help residents, a housing official told state news agency IRNA.

Water, electricity, and phone lines in the area of Varzaghan are all down, further hindering rescue efforts, Iran's English-language Press TV reported.

Tabriz residents left their homes and crowded the streets following the two quakes, those in the city said. "Everyone was scared last night," a resident said by telephone. "They set up tents and were sleeping in the streets and in parks."

ISTANBUL (AP) ? U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Turkey's foreign minister said Saturday that their countries are creating a formal structure to plan for worst-case scenarios in Syria, including a possible chemical weapons attack on regime opponents.

Clinton and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said their two nations would set up a working group to respond to the crisis in Syria as conditions there deteriorate. They said the group will coordinate military, intelligence and political responses to the potential fallout in the case of a chemical attack, which would result in medical emergencies and a likely rise in the number of refugees fleeing Syria.

"We have been closely coordinating over the course of this conflict, but now we need to get into the real details of such operational planning. It needs to be across both of our governments," Clinton said.

She said the U.S. State Department and Turkey's Foreign Ministry had already been working together on the issue but that the new working group would increase the involvement of the intelligence services and militaries of both countries.

Among the contingencies that the U.S. and Turkey agree on the need to plan for is "the horrible event" that chemical weapons are used, Clinton said.

"What would that mean in terms of response, humanitarian and medical emergency assistance and, of course, what needs to be done to secure those stocks from ever being used or falling into the wrong hands?" Clinton said.

In July, Syria's foreign ministry spokesman threatened the use of chemical and biological weapons in case of a foreign attack, assuring that government would never use them against its own citizens. It was the first acknowledgement that Syria possesses weapons of mass destruction, something that's long been suspected.

Later, the Syrian government attempted to back away from the announcement and revert to its previous position of neither confirming nor denying the existence of unconventional weapons.

Syria is believed to have nerve agents as well as mustard gas, Scud missiles capable of delivering lethal chemicals and a variety of advanced conventional arms, including portable anti-aircraft missiles.

Clinton said it was important not to take actions that could "catalyze even greater and more horrible kinds of assaults," and that she and Davutoglu discussed a "very long list" of issues on Syria.

"We have to be very careful and we have to do it in a way that always keeps in mind our goal ? number one is to hasten the end of the bloodshed and the Assad regime," she said.

Davutoglu hinted at the possibility of setting up a so-called "safe zone" inside Syria if the humanitarian crisis, which has already claimed thousands of lives, triggers a massive flow of refugees who are vulnerable to attack by regime forces. He said 55,000 Syrians have sought refuge in neighboring Turkey, and that 2,000-3,000 were arriving daily. Recent arrivals came from the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo and surrounding villages, while others have come from Idlib and Latakia. Many more have fled to Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq.

"If there is a huge wave of refugee migration, then we need to maybe establish a mechanism within Syria in order to ensure humanitarian protection," he said. "Of course, we might try to protect people if they seek refuge in our territory, but if they have to live under continuous bombardment every day, if they are exposed to air strikes every day, and bombardment every day, this might even be considered a war crime."

Davutoglu said without elaborating: "In such a case, the international community can no longer keep its silence and there are certain measures that need to be taken up ... We need to brace for impact."

In addition to planning for potential catastrophes, Clinton and Davutoglu stressed the importance of preparing for a political transition that does not compromise state institutions that will be needed to maintain security and provide key services under a new leadership that would replace President Bashar Assad. Clinton said a new Syria will need to protect the rights of all Syrians regardless of religion, gender or ethnicity.

Both nations are concerned about extremist groups taking advantage of any power vacuum in Syria that could follow Assad's eventual departure. The Turks are particularly concerned about the Kurdish rebel group PKK, which already has bases in northern Iraq, from which it launches cross-border attacks on Turkish targets in its campaign for autonomy for the ethnic minority.

"We share Turkey's determination that Syria must not become a haven for PKK terrorists whether now or after the departure of the Assad regime," Clinton said.

Before they spoke to reporters, Clinton and Davutoglu met Syrian refugees to discuss their needs and Clinton met separately with six opposition activists, including three who fled the country within the past month. She said she came away from the meeting impressed with their desire to build a democratic society in Syria.

However, some of the recent arrivals in Turkey expressed concern about an apparent lack of unity among opposition leaders outside Syria.

Obama camp picks at possible Romney VP choices

(AP) ? President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies aren't waiting for Republican Mitt Romney to reveal his vice presidential choice. They're already trying to scuff up those considered by political insiders to be most likely to join the GOP ticket.

The president's campaign started swinging at the potential Republican running mates this week while urging home-state Democrats to chime in about the shortcomings that ? as emails to donors and supporters put it ? "Americans need to know." The pre-emptive strikes are an effort to define a possible No. 2 in a negative light and reflect a sense that time is precious to sway opinion in a stubbornly close presidential race dashing quickly toward November.

Tim Pawlenty? The former Minnesota governor is a fee-raiser whose record "is painful for the middle-class families who lived under his leadership," the Obama campaign argues.

Rob Portman? The Ohio senator is "one of the architects of the top-down Bush budget" that the Obama team blames for "crashing our economy."

Marco Rubio? The rookie Florida senator has "led the way on almost every extreme position Mitt Romney has embraced," according to the missive that seeks examples of "the good, the bad and ugly" of Rubio.

And Chris Christie? There's "no lack of material to work with" about the pugnacious New Jersey governor.

It's not just the Obama operation that's trying to tar the Republicans. Local Democratic officials in contested states aren't letting visits by the would-be vice presidents go unchecked. In conference calls they try to draw attention to what they say are the Republicans' flaws, then quickly deliver biting assessments when one of them campaigns in a battleground state. Independent groups sympathetic to Obama are piling on as well.

American Bridge 21st Century, a Washington-based super PAC, has already dumped a combined 1,651 unflattering pages of so-called opposition research on Pawlenty, Portman and Rubio as well as Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan. The five electronic briefing books, including two released Wednesday, rake over the Republicans' voting records, proposals, public statements and slipups. The rundowns are so detailed that a politician's taste for expensive wine is even noted in one of the books.

American Bridge President Rodell Mollineau said the group started months ago compiling the information ? much of it's drawn from media reports, public records and speeches ? and decided against waiting to trickle out the juiciest bits when the vice presidential pick becomes known.

"You don't want to start too soon, but you don't want to be in a situation where there's 80 days until the election and everything is being jammed in so much that things are being lost," Mollineau said.

The findings are likely to buttress criticism from top Democrats, feed into TV ads and show up as part of fall campaign mailings. The group also has video trackers in key areas eager to capture possible miscues or shifting positions.

Romney's campaign criticized Obama for seeking the critiques. They are little more than "negative smear campaigns against the possible GOP vice presidential nominees," Ohio-based spokesman Chris Maloney said.

Natalie Baur, a confidante of Portman, went so far as to issue a rebuttal to fellow supporters defending Portman as a problem-solver. The message called the Obama push for feedback on him a "desperate" move and a sign that "the president's friends are more interested in playing political games than working together to create jobs, fix the economy and pass a budget."

Romney has said little about whom he favors or when the choice will come, although it's expected well before the Aug. 27 start of the Republican National Convention.

So far, Vice President Joe Biden has had the No. 2 space all to himself, which has given the Obama campaign a second high-level voice to tour the country, raise money and hammer their fall rival. Obama's aides deny he has a preference, but they admit they're watching closely for Romney's decision.

"Any way you cut it, whomever they pick, we'd much rather have Vice President Biden on our side, campaigning across the country, in the debates, out there standing up for the president, than any of the motley crew that Mitt Romney is choosing between," Obama campaign spokesman Jen Psaki said Wednesday.

55+ Single-family Market Improves - MH Marketing Sales Management

The National Association of Home Builders tells MHProNews builder confidence in single-family homes for the 55+ market for Q2 2012 more than doubled over the second quarter of 2011, from 13 to 29, the highest second quarter reading since this sector of NAHB?s Housing Market Index (MHI) started in 2008. The index measures builder sentiment based on current sales, prospective buyers, and anticipated sales in six months. A number below 50 shows builder confidence is poor, but the size of the increase in one year bodes well for this market segment. Says NAHB Chief Economist David Crowe, ?We are seeing buyers slowly return to the 55+ housing market as home prices begin to improve. This helps unlock some of the pent-up demand from 55+ consumers who have been sitting on the sidelines until they are able to sell their current homes at a reasonable price.?
